TINJAUAN TERHADAP KINERJA KELEMBAGAAN MELALUI POLA KEMITRAAN ANTARA PT.NESTLÉ DENGAN PETANI KOPI
Abstract
Coffee beans quality improvements can be done by farmers with improvement in terms of harvesting, place, storage and sorting. But in fact buyers do not appreciate the differences of coffee bean from farmers. It make coffee bean farmers do not want to improve their coffee beans quality. Coffee beans consistency ( full-flavored ) as raw materials is critical to PT.Nestlé, for producing NESCAFÉ. Based on this matter, PT.Nestlé provides guidance and knowledge to farmers. Training for farmers has been doing by PT.Nestlé in lampung province since 1994. The expectation of this activity is, that it can provide of coffee bean quality improvement and also increasing of coffee plants productivity (Kurniawan, 1999). This study aims to analyze the partnership between PT.Nestlé with coffee bean farmers in Lampung to improve the quality of coffee beans. The result of this study showed that there is a vertical coordination between two parties. This activity conducted by PT.Nestlé as supervisor and coffee bean farmers in Ngarip Village as agent. Each party undertook their own responsibility with distinct purpose but maintenanced beneficial relationship and good synergy in agricultural workframe for both sides. This partnership has been able to improve the quality of robusta coffee beans belongs of farmers. Before the partnership has done, the coffee beans quality was low with water level than 20 percent and defect value more than 250. After the partnership, the Ngarip coffee bean farmers have been able to improve their coffee beans quality with the water level 11.5 % and defect less than 80.
